Michael Mujinga Kabongo is the Country Manager for Steencore in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is responsible for overseeing operations and driving business growth in the DRC.
Michelle serves as Steencore’s Country Manager in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), bringing more than 25 years of senior-level experience across cross-border logistics, customs regulation, and integrated supply chain management within complex, resource-driven jurisdictions. As a licensed Clearing Agent, he possesses deep technical knowledge of DRC trade legislation, mining export frameworks, bonded transit regimes, and compliance protocols essential to the movement of copper, cobalt, and other strategic minerals.
His experience extends beyond transactional logistics. Over the course of his career, Michelle has held leadership roles supporting mining operations, metal construction works, infrastructure development, and site-level execution across the DRC, Zambia, and South Africa. This regional exposure provides him with a comprehensive understanding of Southern Africa’s transport corridors, port interfaces, rail dependencies, refinery networks, and evolving regulatory landscapes.
Within Steencore, Michelle plays a central operational role in coordinating upstream production activities, including ore extraction (Cu, Co, and associated metals), concentrate handling, export documentation, and refinery interface management. He oversees the movement of concentrates from mine site to processing facilities and ensures alignment between production output, assay validation, contractual specifications, and final metal refining requirements. His oversight reduces execution risk and enhances traceability across the value chain.
In addition to logistics and production coordination, Michelle manages institutional stakeholder engagement. He maintains structured relationships with mining authorities, customs administrations, transport operators, inspection agencies, and refinery partners across the DRC, Zambia, and South Africa. This network enables Steencore to operate within a compliant, transparent, and performance-driven framework while maintaining operational continuity in challenging environments.
Michelle’s value to Steencore is institutional rather than administrative. His regional expertise, regulatory fluency, and operational command of concentrate-to-metal workflows materially strengthen the company’s production reliability, supply chain resilience, and governance standards across Southern Africa’s critical minerals sector.
